Food sector boosts retail sales
Retailers saw turnover increase again in August, boosted largely by bigger sales volumes, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.
Food sales were up 6.6% with supermarkets seeing their turnover rise 7.2%. Corrected for shop opening hours (some months have more trading hours than others), the increase was 4%, the CBS said.
Turnover in the non-food sector was flat, with turnover at clothes shops down slightly.
