ABN works council readies for consortium

ABN Amro’s central works council says it accepts there is a very real chance that the biggest Dutch bank may be taken over by a consortium of three others. The works council is currently drawing up a document outlining its position should the consortium succeed.

‘Now the [consortium] takeover has a real chance of success, we have to prepare ourselves as well as we can,’ the works council said in an email to staff. The consortium wants to split up the group.
The consortium, led by Royal Bank of Scotland, is engaged in a takeover battle for ABN Amro with UK bank Barclays.
