New clue in 1999 teenage murder

MPs have called for a full investigation into an anonymous letter published in Sunday’s Telegraaf which claims to throw new light on the murder of teenager Marianne Vaatstra in 1999. Her killer was never caught.

Yesterday the Telegraaf published a letter claiming that three days after her death, a ‘foreign serial killer’ was moved from an asylum seekers centre in Kollum, Groningen province to a special unit in Musselkanaal.
The former director of the centre told the Telegraaf on Monday that she could not remember if the event had happened, nor could she rule it out.
Liberal (VVD) MP Fred Teveen told the paper he wanted to know if a DNA sample had been taken from the asylum seeker and if that was the reason why there was no large scale DNA testing carried out in the hunt to track down the girl’s killer.
