Lorries to get traffic light priority

Lorries and buses are to be given priority over other vehicles at traffic lights on some roads in South Holland because the main roads are rapidly choking with traffic.

The move is part of the province’s adoption of the so-called ‘green waves’ policy. Buses will have priority to stimulate public transport, while the lorries are to be kept moving to reduce their exhaust emissions. A sensor to be fitted at traffic lights will detect approaching lorries and keep the light green for them.
