Less threat of terrorist attacks in 2006

The Dutch security service (AIVD) did not identify any serious threats from Muslim terrorists last year, although such an attack remained a possibility, according to the AIVD’s annual report.


The report said the risk of an attack by home-grown terrorists had gone down in 2006 although a number of young Muslims continued to be influenced by radical ideas. While this need not be a threat, it could lead to increased polarisation between different groups in society, AIVD director Sybrand van Hulst told ANP.
