MPs not misinformed on Iraq, says ministry

The foreign affairs ministry said on Monday that parliament had been properly informed about the Dutch decision to support the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.

A TV programme on Sunday said the US had asked for considerable military support from the Netherlands, but that then-foreign minister, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, had told MPs they had only requested to fly through Dutch air space.
The Netherlands supported the invasion politically but did not sent troops.
