Trafigura agrees Probo Koala payout

Amstelveen-registered oil trader Trafigura has agreed to pay a reported €152m to the Ivory Coast authorities for damage caused when toxic waste from its ship Probo Koala was dumped in the port city of Abdijan, news agency AFP said on Tuesday night.

Trafigura said the deal did not mean it accepted liability for the event, which left 10 people dead and injured thousands. At least two civil law suits are pending, one in Amsterdam.
