‘Greedy’ executives back on the agenda
Politicians and trade unions have called for action to tackle ‘greedy’ executives who earn excessively high salaries following the revelation yesterday that the CEO of baby food manufacturer Numico stands to make up to €12m this year.
The new finance minister Wouter Bos said Jan Bennink’s bonus is ‘ridiculously high’ and has ordered his department to check if it is in line with the code of corporate governance, the Financieele Dagblad reports today.
Meanwhile ANP reports that the FNV trade union federation wants those who earn over €300,000 to pay extra tax. And the Christian CNV union has sent a letter of protest to employers’ organisations asking them to explain why workers should not copy this ‘culture of greed’.
