Google in new Eemshaven mega centre

Google is set to be the main tenant of one of the biggest computing centres in Europe in Eemshaven, Groningen, Trouw reports on Wednesday.

The paper says the Telehouse complex will have room for 100,000 servers – powerful computers used to store masses of information. The complex owner, TCN, says it has already found tenants for 75% of the floor space.
When the complex is full, it will use the same amount of electricity as 80,000 households. One reason for the complex’s popularity is that the location is a few metres above sea level. Since the New Orleans floods, that is of great importance to US companies, TCN said.
