Ajax and AZ draw in Dutch league
Eindhoven’s PSV have extended their lead in the football premier league with a victory over Groningen at the weekend which puts them at 63 points, seven ahead of their nearest rivals, Ajax.
The Amsterdam team only managed a 1-1 draw against third-placed AZ of Alkmaar, even though they were the better team, playing most of second half with 10 men after Edgar Davids received a second yellow card.
Ajax was ahead with a goal by Kenneth Perez, a former AZ player but the Alkmaar team drew level with a disputed goal in the last 10 minutes. Alkmaar are now eight points adrift of the leaders.
Meanwhile the match between Rotterdam’s Feyenoord and ADO of The Hague generated more excitement and ended in a 3-3 draw. Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman said he was satisfied with his team’s performance who had lost the previous three games against ADO, who are bottom of the premier league.
