Tougher action on animal abuse urged

Some two-thirds of animal abuse cases result in either the case being dismissed or a small fine, says animal protection group Dierenbescherming. The group is urging the public prosecution department and justice ministry to clamp down hard on animal abusers, and serial offenders in particular. The call follows yesterday’s discovery of 62 badly neglected dogs at a trader’s.
