Convicted terrorist Samir Azzouz has undergone medical check-ups at the Vught high security prison after his wife Abida said he had become seriously ill.

Azzouz suffers from a chronic intestinal problem and refused to take his medicine while on hunger strike at the end of last year. He was protesting at being forced to exercise alongside women.
