Major Dutch waste processors merge

Waste processor Van Gansewinkel has been taken over by private equity groups CVC and KKR. The two already own Van Gansewinkel’s competitor AVR and will merge the two companies into a single operation.

The deal still has to be approved by the NMa (Dutch Competition Authority). The combined companies had a turnover of €1.1bn in 2006, according to Van Gansewinkel’s press release.
In particular, the firms’ combined recycling expertise would strengthen its future potential significantly, Van Gansewinkel said.
