‘Chelsea wants Hiddink and Rijkaard’

Roman Abramovich, the billionaire Russian owner of UK football club Chelsea, wants both Guus Hiddink and Frank Rijkaard to join his coaching team to replace Jose Mourinho, Britain’s Sunday Mirror reported yesterday. The paper said Abramovich wants Hiddink to take overall control of football at Chelsea with Rijkaard in charge of coaching the first team.

The paper said such as deal would allow Hiddink to continue as Russia’s national coach in a part-time capacity. He took the Russian job at Abramovich’s personal request last summer, the paper said. Former Dutch international Rijkaard, 44, is currently trainer of Barcelona.
