The government’s plans to reform the funding of education for children with special needs such as ADHD will lead to some 6,000 job losses in the sector, unions say.

At the moment, children who need extra help are given their own budget to help them attend school and buy in extra care – such as a classroom assistant.
But the government plans to end that system and transfer the cash instead to local authorities who will decide instead which school the child will attend.
Parents fear this means many children will have to leave the normal system and attend special schools.
The government is also planning to cut the total budget from €3.7bn to €3.4bn.
Thousands of pupils, parents and teachers attended a demonstration against the cuts in Nieuwegein on Wednesday.
