Seven Dutch nationals are among nine people who were arrested following an illegal three-day rave in Belgium.

All seven are suspected of being involved in organising the unlicensed event in Brustem, near Sint-Truiden, close to the border near Maastricht, which began on Friday evening and attracted around 6,000 people.

Belgian police did not break up the rave, but set up checkpoints at the access roads. The seven Dutch nationals were travelling in a van and a car with a trailer, transporting equipment including a generator and loudspeakers.

A total of 27 rave-goers had their driving licenses confiscated and three vehicles were impounded.

Police also issued 20 fines for driving under the influence of drugs and 47 fines for drugs possession. Another 16 people were issued with court summonses for drugs offences.
