King’s Dag 2023 passed off without any major incidents and the weather was unexpectedly sunny.
The royal family’s visit to Rotterdam in honour of the king’s 10th year on the throne was also a ‘great party’ without any problems, police said.
Dutch railway company NS had warned of full trains in the evening as people made their way home.
And earlier in the day, officials in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Breda had warned visitors not to come to the city centres because of the crowds.
