Rotterdam football club Feyenoord held Shakhtar Donetsk to a 1-1 draw in their Europa League away game on Thursday night.
The match took place in Warsaw because of the war in Ukraine.
Feyenoord had the better chances and created more opportunities but it took until two minutes from time for them to equalise after Shakhtar had scored in the 79th minute.
The second leg to determine the quarter final places takes place in Rotterdam on March 16.
Feyenoord, current Dutch league leaders, and AZ Alkmaar are the only two Dutch clubs left in European competition.
Earlier in the week, AZ upset the odds at Lazio with a 1-2 win, putting themselves in pole position for a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League.
