An 18-year-old chart topper by Dutch bubblegum pop band Ch!pz has become a massive hit all over again, thanks to a dance on TikTok.

Even reality soap star Kim Kardashian and her daughter North have uploaded a clip of themselves dancing to 1001 Arabian nights, which has already been viewed over eight million times.

Ch!pz, who went on tours, had their own clothing line and television show, stopped after performing together for eight years

An out-of-hand April Fools joke about a one-off concert led to the current revival. ‘We set up a TikTok account and put a couple of videos on it, but then it started to grow,’ the band told the AD. ‘But when we put the video of 1001 Arabian Nights on, it went over four million views.’

In the meantime, more than three million people have uploaded videos of themselves dancing to the track, which was number 1 in the Netherlands for four weeks in 2005.

‘Being a trend on social media is great fun, but when someone like Kim Kardasian dances to your track, it really is something,’ the band said.
