Amsterdam police appeal for help to trace missing Irish tourist

Dutch police are appealing for help to find a 48-year-old Irishman who disappeared in Amsterdam over a week ago.

Andrew Furey had been in Coco’s bar near Rembrandtplein but failed to make it to the apartment he had booked later that evening, police say. He was last seen on the evening of April 11.

Friends and family say they are very worried about Furey who, according to the Telegraaf, was in a bad mood when he left his traveling companions –  two brothers and a nephew.

Nothing has been heard from him since and his phone has not been answered.

Furey is described as being around 1.75 metres in height, thin build with a stubble beard wearing glasses and often a hat.

His sister Joanne told Belfast Live radio that the family is ‘very concerned about his welfare. He may have left the area now.’

‘If I could give a message to Andrew, it would be, “Please contact us and tell us you are OK. The whole family are really worried about you and just want you home safe”.’
