Golden girls: Dutch women take short track relay title

The Dutch women’s team has won gold in the short track relay event at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Yara van Kerkhof, Selma Poutsma, Suzanne Schulting and Xandra Velzeboer took the title over 3,000 metres in a new Olympic record time. It is Schulting’s third medal of the games.

South Korea took the silver medal and China the bronze.

There was disappointment for the Dutch women in the 500 metres, with none of the three finalists qualifying for a medal position.

The Netherlands is currently fourth in medals table with12 – six gold, four silver and two bronze.

There are no Dutch skaters in action on Monday.
