Rituals deal with ‘flaky’ Moon-Sisters backfires on social media

Cosmetics chain Rituals has distanced itself from comments criticising the government’s vaccination policy made by two celebrity sisters and has removed an interview with them from its website.

Lieke Lexmond, a television presenter at RTL, and her sister Jetteke signed a letter attacking what they see as the compulsory vaccination of children in aid of ‘a battle against a pandemic which turns out not to be a pandemic’.

The letter is part of the Moederhart (a mother’s heart) campaign fronted by model Doutzen Kroes, which claims anti Covid rules ‘cost more lives than they save’ and calls on people to ‘follow their conscience’ when (not) adopting the measures.

In a statement Rituals said it supports the government vaccination policy and that it is only dealing with the sisters is through the sale of their Moon Calender, for which it has also come under fire on social media.

The Moonsisters, as they call themselves, claim to live according to the cycles of the moon which they say influences events, including the attack on the Capitol in Washington in January. The calendar, retailing at €29.95, offers ‘favourable moon moments’ as well as recipies and ‘inspiring quotes’.

The company earlier dismissed claims that the calender ‘a load of nonsense’ and ‘flaky’ saying it ‘supported the Moonsisters and their great love for the power of the moon.’

‘The moon in her eternal cycle shows that every beginning and ending are connected,’ Rituals wrote on social media earlier this week.
