Just over half of Dutch households now have a fibre optic cable connection, Dutch consumers authority ACM said on Thursday.

In total, 4.1 million of the Netherlands’ eight million households have access to a fibre optic network and if the current installation speed continues, the entire country will be abled up by 2030, the ACM said in its latest telecom monitor.

T-Mobile, KPN and Delta are currently laying fibre optic cables and 1.8 million households actually have a subscription which uses the fast internet technology.

VodafoneZiggo, the other major player, is focusing on a different technology based on coax cable connections to facilitate its high speed internet services.
