Dilay Willemstein, who was to represent the Netherlands in the upcoming Miss World beauty contest in Puerto Rico, has pulled out of the competition because she does not want to be vaccinated against coronavirus.

‘I am not ready for it. It would not feel right. I don’t know if I will ever take it,’ the model and dancer told the AD. Dilay (21) was crowned Miss World Netherlands in July.

‘Straight after we were told that we would have to be vaccinated to enter the contest in December,’ she told the paper, adding that she had thought long and hard about her decision. ‘This door will close but new doors will open,’ she said.

Her place will now be taken by Lizzy Dobbe from Den Helder who came second.
