Dutch transporters organisation TLN has called for action to speed up border checks between the EU and Britain, before freight traffic reaches normal volumes, website Nu.nl has reported.

‘We have to do all we can to solve these growing pains, before it gets busier and the problems get worse,’ a spokesman said.

TLN says in particular British trucking companies appear to be less well prepared for the new customs forms since the transition period with the UK ended, pointing in particular to problems facing shipments of Scottish fish.

Dutch logistics lobby group Evofenedex, which represents some 15,000 Dutch companies, also said the problems should be tackled before pressure at the British borders gets more intense.
