November 2020 is on course to set a batch of new records for the warmest penultimate month of the year, as well as being one of the driest.

Temperatures were around 2 degrees higher than average throughout the month and included the warmest November day since records began on November 2, when the thermometer reached 19.1C in De Bilt.

November 9 and 18 also set new daily records at 16.7C and 14.6C respectively, while November 15 was the 229th day in a row when the temperature reached at least 10C, an unprecedented event.

Rainfall has been around 60% lower than the average for this time of year so far. The official figures are expected to be published by the KNMI later this week.
