Some 20 detectives are now investigating the rape of a 20-year-old woman who was dragged into bushes by two men and attacked in broad daylight while out jogging, police said on Tuesday.

The rape, in Rotterdam’s Zuiderpark, took place on September 7 but has only now been made public.

Police are now appealing to anyone who was in the park between 5pm and 6pm on September 7 to come forward. ‘There were a lot of people in the park at that time – cyclists, moped users, joggers and people walking their dogs, as well as people on their way home,’ the police statement said.

In particular, they hope to trace a man who comforted the victim at around 5.30 on the junction of the Groene Kruisweg and Pendrechtseweg.
