DSM to cut 200 jobs, most will go in Sittard and Delft
Chemicals company DSM is cutting its workforce by 200 and 170 of the jobs will go in the Netherlands, news website Nu.nl reports.
The company’s works council has given the green light to the reorganisation, which will involve 80 compulsory redundancies, Nu.nl said. The company has a current workforce of 3,900.
The Dutch jobs will go at the company’s plant in Sittard-Geleen and at the biotech centre in Delft.
The company told Nu.nl the job cuts are due to changes in the market, a process which has been accelerated by the coronavirus crisis. Over the past 10 years or so, DSM has shifted from bulk chemicals to focus more on nutrition and health, and materials.
