Some 100 to 200 people took part in a demonstration in The Hague on Tuesday calling for an end to the lockdown, and accusing the government of unnecessary panic mongering.

Anti-vaxxers and campaigners against the introduction of 5G telecoms services also took part in the demo outside the entrance to the Dutch parliamentary complex. Some carried banners saying ‘life comes before death’ and ‘end the lockdown’.

Police did not intervene to break up the demonstration and it is unclear who actually organised it, Nu.nl said.

City officials say the demo had not been cleared first with the relevant authorities.
