Nike’s European headquarters in Hilversum, where some 2,000 people work, has been closed temporarily because of a coronavirus scare, according to Dutch news agency ANP.

DutchNews.nl has so far been unable to confirm the closure, or if the worker said to have coronavirus is one of the 10 Dutch cases of coronavirus identified so far. Some 80 different nationalities work at the Nike Hilversum offices.

According to ANP, the Nike offices will be shut for two days while a ‘deep cleaning process’ takes place. Staff will be briefed on Tuesday afternoon about resuming work as normal.

Meanwhile, in Rotterdam, the Maasstad hospital has closed its doors to all new intensive care admissions after one patient tested positive for the disease, according to the Telegraaf.

The person was in the ward from February 22 to February 29 and was then transferred to the Erasmus Medical Centre, the paper said.

And four people tested for the virus at the Beatrix hospital in Gorichem, which has been closed to all admissions because of another coronavirus scare, have all had negative results.

Three nursing staff and one intensive care patient underwent the tests after another patient was diagnosed with the disease after they too were transferred to the Erasmus teaching hospital.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Netherlands is currently 10. Seven of the victims had been in northern Italy.
