Warm, wet weather set to continue, but there was some sleet in the north

January may have been exceptionally mild this year, but some sleet and wet snow did fall in the north and north east of the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The light covering of snow was short-lived in temperatures as high as 7 Celsius, but locals were quick to upload photos of the only snow fall in the north so far this winter.

On Wednesday most of the country will have rain and sunny spells throughout the day, the KNMI weather bureau said.

There is little change for the rest of the week and the weekend will be cloudy with some showers. Daytime temperatures will remain a mild 10 to 11 Celsius in most places.

The KNMI’s long-term forecast offers no comfort to people who love wintry weather. It may turn a little colder for a few days next week but the temperature will remain unseasonably high well into February, the KNMI and Weerplaza said.
