Rotterdam police have found four stowaways from Iraq and Iran hidden in the back of a refrigerated lorry on a Rotterdam car park. The four, aged 17 to 31, were in good health and are now being questioned, police said on social media.

The Spanish lorry driver, aged 61, has been arrested.

Police found the stowaways on Saturday following a tip-off from the Belgian authorities. It is unclear where the lorry was heading.

Police have found 730 people trying to make the crossing to Britain in the first nine months of this year. The most recent case was in late November, when 25 people were found in a refrigerated lorry on board a ferry heading for England.
