Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he will stay with the Amsterdam club until the end of the season, despite being linked to Bayern Munich.

‘I feel a strong connection with my team. I can confirm I will stay with Ajax this season,’ Ten Hag told reporters on Monday evening, ahead of the club’s Champions League match against Chelsea in London.

Ten Hag’s name had been linked to the German side after they sacked trainer Niko Kovac at the weekend.

Ten Hag also confirmed that Donny van de Beek, Edson Alvarez and Lisandro Martinez are all fit for the game, after sustaining injuries against PEC Zwolle on Friday. ‘They are fit, they can play but whether they will or not, I can’t yet say,’ the coach said.

Ten Hag signed a new contract with Ajax in the summer which keeps him with the club until mid-2022. Asked if that contract included a clause which would make it possible to move to Bayern Munich, Ten Hag said ‘tomorrow is Chelsea Ajax’.

Since his appointment in 2017, Ten Hag has won the Eredivisie, the Dutch Super Cup and KNVB Cup, and he took Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals last season.
