Speeding to cost more: traffic fines rise by an average 2.7% next year
Traffic fines are going up by an average of 2.7% next year, compared with 1.7% in 2019, the AD reported on Wednesday.
Someone caught driving 39 kph above the motorway speed limit will now face a fine of €430 plus €9 administration costs. Beating the speed limit in a built up area by four kph will result in a fine of €28 plus the standard admin charge.
The fine for holding a mobile phone while driving goes up to €240 as does the fine for jumping a red light.
