Amsterdam football club Ajax has extended the contract of Brazilian forward David Neres to 2023 and is hoping to reach a similar deal with Hakim Ziyech, the AD said on Thursday.

The club has lost three key players this season – Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Lasse Schöne – and does not want to see any more leave the squad which was so successful last season, the paper said.

Donny van de Beek may also be off to Real Madrid but coach Erik ten Hag has said he will do all he can to keep the youngster in Amsterdam.

Ziyech, 26, earlier turned down an offer from Sevilla, saying he would not leave the Amsterdam club unless he was happy with the ‘complete picture’.
