Police find €700,000 in cash, hidden in car secret compartment
A 25-year-old man from Zaandam has been arrested after police found €700,000 in cash, hidden in a secret compartment in his car.
Police stopped the car on the A16 last week and found the money, in €100 notes, in a bag in the compartment. They arrested the man and sequestered the car for further investigation.
The police statement did not say if the car had been stopped in a routine control, or why it was picked out for investigation. The driver remains in custody.
