Oranje move up again in Fifa world football rankings

Oranje’s strong performance in the Nations League football tournament has helped push the Dutch men’s football team into joint 14th place in the Fifa rankings.

In April, when the last ranking was published, the Dutch were in 16th place. Portugal, which beat Oranje 1-0 in the Nations League final, has gone up from seventh to fifth place. Belgium, France, Brazil and England are unchanged at the top of the rankings.

The Netherlands next meets 11th ranked Germany in the qualifications for the European Championships. Also in the Dutch group are Northern Ireland (28th), Belarus (82) and Estonia (99).

Oranje headed the Fifa list in 2011 before sinking to its lowest every place – 36th – in 2017.
