The richest 500 Dutch people saw their collective assets rise over 10% last year, according to the latest edition of the Quote magazine rich list.

Top of the list is Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken with a kitty of €12.8bn, up 2.4 % on last year. Founder of Randstad staffing agency Fred Goldschmeding’s €4.8bn pales in comparison although he too saw his assets rise, by 11.6 %.

In third place is Luxaflex king Ralph Sonnenberg with €2.8bn, up 3.7 %, while media mogul John de Mol saw his personal fortune grow by 3.7% to €2.7bn.

Last but certainly not least is Hans Melchers of international chemicals company Melchemie who is worth €2.3bn, up 4.2 % on last year

The richest Dutch family remains the Brenningmeijers who own a combined €22bn, followed by the Vorm family with €9.1bn and the aptly named De Rijcke family with €2.1bn. The royal family comes in at number 11 with €1bn.

The most spectacularly rich newcomers are payment platform Ayden founders John Caspers  and brothers Joost and Arnout Schuijff who both became multimillionaires overnight when the company was floated on the stock exchange. Mabel van Oranje Nassau, widow of prince Friso, also profited from the move and ended up in 146th place with a comfortable €240m.

This year’s biggest losers are Altice boss Dennis Okhuijsen who has tumbled out of the list altogether and soup maker Hans Struik who, Quote alculated, lost some 40% of his assets this year and is now languishing in 447th place with only a paltry €90m.
