A 2-1 away loss to Tottenham Hotspur in London put paid to PSV Eindhoven’s hopes of progressing past the group stage of the Champions League competition on Tuesday night.

PSV led the match 1-0 until the 76th minute, when Harry Kane equalised and then put away the winner. The result puts PSV at the bottom of Group B with one point from four games.

Amsterdam club Ajax take on Benefica away in their Group E match on Wednesday evening. Ajax won the home leg 1-0 and are now joint top of Group G with Bayern Munich.

A win would put Ajax into the elimination rounds for the first time in 13 years.

‘We are in with a chance,’ coach Erik ten Hag told the Parool ahead of the game. ‘And we want to make the most of it.’
