GrandVision sees lower third quarter profits due to hot weather

GrandVision, parent of optician chains Pearle and Eye Wish, issued a profit warning for the third quarter, saying the warm weather was keeping customers away from its shops.

The group said it hoped to recoup lost sales in the final three months of the year, the Financieele Dagblad said on Tuesday.

GrandVision reported first-half revenue growth of 8.9% largely due to acquisitions. Same store sales growth was 2.8% for the period. Net profit was 5.9% higher at €116m.

Based at Schiphol airport, GrandVision has 34 separate optician stores formats with 6,000 shops in more than 40 countries.  Investment company Hal Holding launched GrandVision on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 2015.
