The woman who collapsed in a bakery in Hulst on Monday and was given an on-the-spot emergency c-section to save her baby has died, police said on Wednesday.

The baby remains in a critical condition in hospital, police, said, quoting the woman’s family.

Three ambulance crews were involved in resuscitating the mother, who went into cardiac arrest, supported by two teams of firefighters and police who sealed off the area.

An air ambulance was brought in but was unable to land because a drone was flying over the scene, broadcaster NOS said.

Police are trying to trace the owner because it is illegal to fly a drone when an air ambulance is in the vicinity, NOS said.
