Products sold on Amazon’s German online store, Amazon.de, are cheaper than similar items listed on Dutch online sites in 50% of cases, according to comparison website Vergelijk.nl.

Vergelijk.nl says economies of scale mean that the world’s largest online retailer is able to beat competition in the Netherlands, the Telegraaf reported on Tuesday.

Ben Kerkhof, founder of the comparison site said Amazon’s arrival in the Netherlands has been ‘earth-shaking for online shoppers because of its low prices’.  Everything sold on Amazon’s German website will be available to Dutch shoppers later this year.
