The American teenager who flew to Schiphol on April 1 without telling her parents and sparked a major police hunt has been found safe and well in Zwolle.

The police said tips from the public ‘had helped’ in the hunt for Maggie Lee, who is thought to have had internet contact with someone in The Hague.

According to the Telegraaf, the girl took a train to Zwolle on Saturday. She was picked up near the station and police did not say if she was alone. On Sunday, the police issued a further statement saying the girl had been staying with various people she had met on internet.

She had also travelled on someone else’s passport.

‘I knew she had been chatting with someone from The Hague in the past few months,’ her mother Sabrina told the Telegraaf. ‘But I have no idea who. The FBI are going through her laptop and mobile phone looking for evidence.’
