Dutch electronics and household goods web shop Coolblue booked a 55% increase in sales last year, taking turnover to €875m, the company said on Wednesday.

Coolblue now plans to further expand and take on 1,500 new workers in the Netherlands and Belgium. The company, which is not listed on the stock exchange, estimates 2017 turnover will hit €1.2bn.

Cooblue, founded in 1999, has seven physical stores as well as its web shops and is based in Rotterdam. Part of its expansion plan involves increasing the size of its Tilburg logistics centre by 33,000 square metres to 88,000 square metres.
