CO2 emissions in the Netherlands rose 4.1% in the second quarter of the year, the central statistics office said on Friday.
The rise was due to the strengthening economy, higher gas consumption during the cool weather in April and an increasing use of coal rather than gas fired power plants.
Energy and water companies and waste processing plants, which account for 37% of total CO2 emissions, saw a rise of 10%, the CBS said.
Households, which account for 15% of total emissions, saw a rise of 6%.
