Revitalised Dutch football team beat Latvia 6-0 in crucial European Cup qualifier

UEFA Euro 2016 logo presentationA revitalised Netherlands beat Latvia 6-0 in their crucial qualifying match for the 2016 European championships at the Arena stadium in Amsterdam on Sunday evening.

The Dutch team remains third in group A with six points from four matches. National coach Guus Hiddink had said he would resign if Oranje lost.

‘This was a fantastic game and we can build on this. We have started a series now, to be continued next year,’ captain Robin van Persie told Uefa.com after the game.

The next Dutch qualifier is against Turkey on March 28, 2015.
