Vanity Fair says Mark Rutte is world’s third best dressed politician

Known for his plain suits, constant grin and glasses, Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte is in third place in Vanity Fair’s ranking of the world’s best dressed political leaders.

The slide show ranking of the ‘sartorial elite’ has British prime minister David Cameron in first place, followed by Laura Chincilla of Costa Rica. India’s Sonia Gandi is fourth, followed by US president Barack Obama.

Five of the top 10 are men, like Rutte, in blue suits.

Vanity Fair writes of the Dutch PM: ‘The Dutch prime minister’s crinkly eyed smile and lush, impressive-on-a-20-year-old hairline appear all the more ruggedly handsome aside his delicate frameless glasses. His classic, understated style suggests his tailor must be as good as his optometrist.’
