Housing corporation makes €230m loss on passenger ship

A former passenger liner, bought by a Rotterdam housing corporation and turned into a hotel and restaurant complex for almost €260m, has been finally sold to a hotel group.

WestCord hotels paid almost €30m for the SS Rotterdam, which will remain in its present location, Nos television said.
The political row following the purchase of the ship by housing group Woonbron led to the resignation of its chairman. The housing ministry ordered the sale.
Woonbron bought the SS Rotterdam in 2005, saying at the time the sale and renovation would cost €6m.
