Employer and union leaders have been invited to join the ongoing negotiations on forming a new cabinet on Thursday as the talks gather momentum.
Bernard Wientjes, leader of the VNO-NCW employers organisation, and Ton Heerts of the FNV trade union federation will join a discussion on community issues which will affect all of them in the coming years.
The right-wing VVD and Labour party PvdA have been in talks on forming a new administration since the September general election.
The invitation to the union and employers’ leaders indicate the talks are now nearing an end, Nos television said. They were invited in the role as members of a government advisory body which makes recommendations on work-related issues.
On Monday various media reported a concept agreement could be completed as early as the end of this week. According to Nos, the new-look cabinet could be finalised by mid-November.
Members of the provincial government discussion platform, the local councils’ organisation and the water boards will also join the discussions on Thursday, the Financieele Dagblad reported.
