Organic food sales rise almost 12% in six months

The sale of organic food in the Netherlands rose 11.8% to €445m in the first six months of this year, according to sector organisation Bionext.


Sales of organic fish almost doubled, while meat product sales rose 55% and coffee and tea were up 25%.
Organic food sales have risen steadily for the past 10 years but still only account for 3% of total spending on food, the figures show.
